Austin Special Chicago is proud to announce that it has been selected to be the recipient of the proceeds raised from the Annual Duck Race hosted by the Alpha Phi Omega Fraternity – Eta Chapter of the Northern Illinois University, as nominated and won by APO member Shannon Janus, a long-time volunteer and family member of Austin Special employee Veronica Janus. This fundraising event comes at a most opportune time for the Agency as the need rises to supplement government funds to pay for the ever-growing operational expenses of the developmental training and residential programs.
It is with urgency that I appeal to all families, friends, and staff of Austin Special to support the APO Fraternity of NIU in this effort to raise funds for the Agency this year. Attached is the Order Form to purchase rubber ducks.
Description and Details of the Duck Race
The NIU Eta Chapter of APO, a co-ed service fraternity, is hosting its 16th Annual Duck Race, which sells hundreds of rubber ducks around the DeKalb and Chicagoland area. These ducks are then raced down the Kishwaukee River with prizes given to winners of the race. The Duck Race will feature a family fun atmosphere with food, live music, and outdoor games for racers and the community! All proceeds raised from this event are donated to Austin Special Chicago. Bring your family and friends out to get active while supporting a wonderful cause!
